The Power of Barre

Barre is an effective and sustainable workout for building strength and stamina!

Barre is a blend of ballet, Pilates, and yoga. The workout traditionally utilizes small movements to increase endurance in a big way. Barre is a wonderful workout for those looking for a low impact way to increase energy, muscle, and stamina!

In class, we focus on stabilizing the full body - not just the moving limbs – breath, and body awareness. We intentionally work the body in a balanced way. When working one muscle, we always work the opposite muscle. So, if we are working triceps hard, expect to also hit the biceps. This offers a safer and more complete workout that will not only help protect against injury, but also help rebuild strength after an injury.

Did you know Michael Phelps included barre as part of his 2016 Olympics training regimen? Barre’s effectiveness, combined with the low-injury risk, make for an outstanding workout that is truly recommended by top movement experts.

Barre is a great option for all fitness levels. The class is challenging for all levels, while still offering lots of modifications for beginners. Barre is also recommended for those who have arthritis, are recovering from an injury, or have taken time off from working out. Even if it's been years.

Barre is also an awesome cross-training option for aerialists! Sling, silks, and lyra classes focus heavily on the upper body. Barre is a great way to balance that movement by working the legs and all those small stabilizing muscles.
