Why Adults Should Practice Circus Arts

You’re never too old to start practicing aerial arts!

Circus arts are not just for children! They also offer so many benefits for adults. Here at Fly Freak, we offer a wide variety of aerial classes designed specifically for adult students. Keep reading to learn more about why even grown-ups should consider running away with the circus.

1. Add variety to your workouts.

Doing the same type of workout over and over again can get boring. Repetitive movements also put you at risk for injury. Taking an aerial class is a great way to add more variety to your workout regimen! Very few fitness classes utilize the same muscles in the ways as circus arts, making it a great option to help prevent injury from overuse and train those underutilized muscle groups.

2. Challenge your brain in new ways.

Did you know trying new things stimulates your brain and helps improve brain function and focus? As adults, we don’t have as many opportunities to learn new information or skills as children do. Instead, we have to seek out those learning opportunities to keep our minds in tip top shape. Body awareness and following directions can be especially tricky when hanging upside down from an apparatus, making circus a great way to challenge your brain.

3. It’s fun!

Play is such an important part of life. As adults, work, family, and chores tend to take up most of our time and mental energy on the day-to-day. We don’t often prioritize joy and creativity. Circus is a great way to regularly center play. It’s hard to not have fun when you’re hanging upside or dancing along to a favorite song!

You’re never too old to start reaping these benefits! We have adult students ranging in age from 18 to 60 and beyond. We’d be honored to move and play with you!
